Brown’s Online Pre-College Courses are a great way to experience Ivy League academics, explore challenging subjects, and engage with students from around the world – enthusiastic, creative and accomplished students like you.

Online courses

Brown’s online courses are rigorous, active learning experiences designed and led by world-class Brown instructors. Each week, you will engage in intellectual discussion and complete assignments designed to inspire curiosity and discovery.

Freedom to learn anytime, anywhere

Brown’s online courses are asynchronous, which means students are not required to log in at a set time to accommodate busy academic and extracurricular schedules. You can access your coursework anytime, anywhere. When you complete your weekly assignments and coursework is up to you.

College-Level Achievement 

Brown’s online courses are rigorous, and students engage in academic inquiry at the level of first-year undergraduate study. Summer courses require students to commit 10+ hours per week to complete their coursework and assignments.

Please note: Students do not receive college credit for completing Brown University’s online pre-college courses.

Brown awards a Certificate of Completion to those students who instructors identify as having met all course requirements. In addition, all students enrolled in courses three weeks or longer receive a Course Performance Report, in which the instructor outlines the content of the course and evaluates the student’s performance.
